Divorce can now be filed online through Diia

Today, Diia announced the launch of a new service — online divorce.

The service is available to spouses who both consent to the divorce and do not have any minor children together.

The procedure works as follows: one spouse submits an application through Diia, and the other spouse confirms it.

Once the application has been submitted, both spouses will need to join a video conference with a representative of the Civil Registration Office (DRACS) on the designated date and at the specified time to confirm their intention to dissolve the marriage.

The divorce will be officially registered one month after the relevant application is submitted. During this period, the application may be withdrawn, but no later than four hours before the scheduled video conference.

The divorce certificate can be delivered by post, while the information confirming the dissolution of the marriage will also appear in Diia.

An important detail: the paper divorce certificate can only be delivered within Ukraine and must be handed directly to the recipient.

This service is particularly convenient for spouses who are currently in different cities or abroad and are unable to visit a Civil Registration Office in person. Where both spouses consent to the divorce and have no minor children together, the online procedure makes it possible to avoid court proceedings and significantly simplifies the divorce process.

If the spouses have minor children together, however, the marriage must still be dissolved through court proceedings.
